Our Firm
Founded over eight decades ago, Shufro Rose has helped generations of individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, building portfolios that are responsive to evolving goals and changing market conditions. The firm currently manages nearly $2 billion.
Shufro Rose is comprised of four distinct groups who are united by the firm’s rich history, robust operational practices, and rigorous adherence to compliance standards. After collaborating since 2006, The Kaminsky-Silverman (“KS”) Group was formalized in 2015 by a Shufro Rose veteran, Tonia Kaminsky, and her partner, Barbara Silverman.

Tonia has been a financial mentor and confidant to generations of families for over twenty-five years. While Tonia’s experience has largely focused on structuring personalized investment portfolios, she also carries a long track record of anticipating and effectively responding to the priorities and needs of individuals and families to ensure they feel secure about their future. Tonia has played an integral role in the evolution of Shufro Rose, becoming a Partner of the firm. In 2015, she led the formation of the Kaminsky-Silverman Group.
Tonia obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Her passion for personal finance extends beyond her professional role. Tonia is a board member of The Council for Economic Education where she works to expand access to financial and economic education to the youngest generations of Americans. She strongly believes that such knowledge leads to a stronger future, greater wealth, and the achievement of long-term goals.
Tonia grew up in New Jersey and currently resides closer to nature in New Canaan, Connecticut. In her free time, Tonia broadens her know-how through reading and loves to explore nearby trails. Tonia is a devoted aunt to her nieces and enjoys caring for her furry companions Hegel, Eddie, and Miu Miu.
KATIE ELMAN
Administrative Assistant
Katie combines a dynamic theater background with administrative support experience, bringing versatility and efficiency to the Kaminsky-Silverman Group.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree focusing on Musical Theater. While Katie can be seen performing off-Broadway and in theaters across the nation, beyond the spotlight, she steps into the role of an administrative assistant with equal dedication. Katie is armed with exceptional attention to detail, unparalleled organizational skills, and a knack for streamlining processes.
When not performing or optimizing office operations, Katie can be found indulging in a diverse array of interests. A proud California native, she spends her free time doting on her beloved cat, Matilda, and practicing the piano.
BARBARA SILVERMAN CFA, CFP®, CHSNC®
Senior Financial Advisor
Barbara has been helping individuals and families navigate their personal financial decisions for over two decades. After spending several years conducting research on European and U.S. industrial companies for an investment bank, she embraced a more personal role. What originally started as collaborating with families who needed help reaching their financial milestones eventually turned into leading the Kaminsky-Silverman Group at Shufro Rose.
Barbara is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received her master’s from the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy. She brings decades of investing experience enhanced by her Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a certification which required three years of testing in areas such as stock and bond analysis. To support her efforts in creating dynamic plans for clients, Barbara additionally obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification. While she enjoys using her knowledge to work with an array of individuals, as a mom of a son with Autism, Barbara has subsequently developed an expertise in planning for families with Special Needs, for which she achieved the Chartered Special Needs Consultant designation following a course of study focusing on the unique discipline of creating a successful estate for a dependent with special needs.
Outside of the office, Barbara spends her time raising two boys and a mini labradoodle. She is an avid traveler, and her favorite activity is when the family (except the dog) heads off to a foreign destination each year. As a New York City transplant from Chicago, she also explores places closer to home on long walks around the city.
ADRIANA PYC, CFP®, CPWA®
Vice President & Financial Advisor
Adriana brings over a decade of experience to the families she collaborates with at Shufro Rose. She began her professional career identifying, funding, and incubating hedge funds at a private investment firm in New York City - think Shark Tank for portfolio managers. Led by her passion for financial literacy and a strong desire to serve individuals and families, rather than large organizations such as pensions and endowments with unlimited resources, Adriana ultimately chose a path that emphasized personal financial planning.
Adriana graduated cum laude from the University of Albany, State University of New York. While Adriana partners with members of the Kaminsky-Silverman Group on strategic initiatives, her primary expertise is helping individuals achieve their financial goals and make informed money decisions. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® professional, Adriana is trained to provide comprehensive financial planning services that include retirement planning, investment management, tax planning, estate planning, risk management, and more.
When Adriana is not focused on helping her clients live their best financial life, she spends quality time, usually over a delicious meal or a hike in the woods, with her loved ones. Adriana was born in Poland and currently resides in New York with her husband. They look forward to welcoming the newest addition to their clan, a baby boy, in May 2023.
VRUNDA PATEL, MBA
Senior Client Service Associate
Vrunda brings nearly a decade of experience to her tight-knit client relationships. While her professional roots lie in business operations, Vrunda’s desire to build strong, long-term relationships with individuals and families, coupled with her naturally warm demeanor and approach, led her to a more client-facing role at the Kaminsky-Silverman Group.
Vrunda is a graduate of the University of Albany, State University of New York. She also received her MBA from Northeastern University. Vrunda oversees day-to-day operations and client experience. Vrunda prioritizes and ensures that the needs of those she serves are met in a timely and efficient matter, ranging from smooth onboarding to speedy responses to inquiries and requests.
As a newlywed, Vrunda enjoys spending time with her husband in the Eastern part of Long Island, New York where they reside. She appreciates touring the North Fork, trying new restaurants, traveling to visit family and friends, and relaxing on the beach with a good mystery book. Vrunda has recently taken up gardening on her journey as a first-time homeowner.
